Readings......
Let me know if i am wrong, but I am making sure I've got the main points of the readings:
Pacy: technical, cultural and organizational aspects are not always complementry when the technology is placed outside its orginal enviroment. ie. snow mobil, water pump
Joys: technology will take over, though this can happen several different ways: gradually, mergeing with the technology, submission, dependency. some efforts have been made to digress technology, but not nearly enough, and not quickly enough.
Winner: the workplace technology creates (postoffices dont actually recive the real letters), social separation, interaction of humans and technology - utopian and dystopian.
ok. well if someone can elaborate on the Winner reading, and perhaps a bit more on the the Joy reading, as those were both very long. Just main points, and a few examples wouldn't hurt anyone.
Thank you!

Also it is important to know that for the Pacy article there are three aspects -definition for tools:
Technical aspect:how something works, the mechanics, e.g. the water pumps had mechanical errors that kept them from working properly because of poor design.
organizational aspect: technology is embedded within activities (professional, economic): designers, makers, support personnel, users, etc.
e.g. the water pumps also failed because there was no organizational aspect to them, no one was orginizing taking care of the pumps
cultural aspects: values, beliefs, codes for behavior
e.g. how snow mobils are used in different culture, if they are used for pleasure in the US or for work in Swedish Lapland
For Joys article: he also talks about humans merging with computers and has a quote from a guy saying that he loves his body but he would trade it in for a 200lb silicon based body
